Tombow IROJITEN “Color Dictionary” is a legendary Japanese colored pencil series designed to let you collect and enjoy color like a library of books.

This complete Vol. 1–3 set includes 90 colors (30 colors per volume) packaged in three book-style cases that line up on your shelf like art books. Each collection is edited by tone, with colors inspired by nature and given poetic Japanese names such as kawasemi-iro (kingfisher), tanpopo (dandelion), and usukurenai (pale crimson). 

The pencils feature smooth, medium-soft cores that balance “writing” and “drawing,” so they feel good for both sketching and detailed coloring. The rich range of soft mid-tones and layered neutrals makes it easy to blend, layer, and create subtle gradations—ideal for flowers, animals, landscapes, and adult coloring books. 

Each 30-color volume is organized by tone in three 10-color booklets, such as pale tones, vivid tones, ecology colors, deep tones, and light grayish tones.
